ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΟΥΣ [Aristotelis]: ΟΡΓΑΝΟΝ [Organum]. Frankfurt 1598. 16th-century very rare edition of the most perplexing and difficult work of Aristotle, here in a very early critical edition. In 8vo (19 × 12 cm). Modern full vellum with manuscript lettering. Some light browning and a few spots in places. Complete: 951 pp. Parallel text in Greek and Latin, overall in very good condition. According to Aristotle, knowledge and language are intrinsically linked, and the structure of Greek serves as a natural organum for understanding the structure of the world. Since antiquity, countless scholars have debated the meanings and implications of this supreme philosophical work. It remains a cornerstone of human thought, presented here in a rare early 16th-century edition of the original Greek text. This edition was critically prepared by Professor G. Pacio. Up to modern times only a few scholars could grapple in depth with this masterpiece of philosophy. Early editions of the Organum are rare. References: Adams 3529 (not this edition); Schweiger I, 53.
