Baker travelled in the Levant during the 1870s. The first part recounts his journey through Greece to Constantinople and the Black Sea. The second part offers a detailed description of the populations of the Ottoman Empire, while the final section presents a study of its administrative structures.
All editions of this work were produced in very small print runs, making them rare.
