GREECE, ATHENS, TRAXEL. A lithographed topographical plan of Piraeus, titled “Athen Hafenstadt Pireus”, (65x47cm), first scientific topographic map of Piraeus made in 1836, by the Bavarian cartographer August Traxel, who visited Athens in 1834/35 and tried to represent the ancient city of Piraeus in a real topographical plan, the map has been separately published in Stuttgart in 1836, inset view of Piraeus and the coast of Athens (still empty) and of four monuments of Athens. Three spots, multi folded with wear at folds, generally some wear but miraculously saved intact and overall in good condition. A very important map of the utmost rarity.
