Many Ottoman military commanders and officers, listed by name, are being arrested and tortured for their participation in an uprising against the Sultan. Subsequently, they were strangled, along with thirty other conspirators. The Ottoman troops are disorganized, and panic prevails. Many wealthy men of the Ottoman Empire are being ordered to arm themselves, along with their servants, to go into battle. The Ottomans are attempting to assemble a large number of troops to confront both the Greeks and their own internal civil strifes.
