PARIS 1822-1824-1825 FIRST EDITION, in 8vo, complete all three volumes published over three years during the Revolution, contemporary leather over boards slightly trimmed,head of spine of volume three missing, occasionally some light spotting in volumes two and three, complete: 475p,456p.,434p., four portraits of Greeks and a huge folded map of Greece, overall in very good condition. Raffenel, an ardent Philhellene, was a French diplomat in Smyrna when the Revolution started. He eyewitness the massacres there and became member of the Greek Paris Committee. He traveled in Greece after the publication of all these volumes and fought alongside other Philhellenes. He was killed at the siege of Athens in 1827. The plates depict figures of the Revolution.
