Taitbout de Marigny (born in Koroni in Peloponnese) was an early explorer of the Black sea and the Dutch consul in Odessa. The three travels have been executed in 1818,1823 and 1824,he had the opportunity to explore the eastern Black sea cost before the Russian blockade of the 1830s. He was obsessed with the economic potential of the region that emerged after centuries of isolation. As Spencer, he remarked the Pontic Greeks to operate all around the coast. The first edition in French was censored by the Russian authorities. An important book for the Pontic Hellenism of early 19th century. Atabey 1191
