Baratta work is not a simple edition in Italian of Allom initial work, although is based on it.First in contain a large text that exist only in this Italian publication and provide a very detailed account of the Ottoman Empire compiled by Baratta who was based on many different sources for the Levant. Histories of the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires, travel accounts and several other works were analyzed to produce this immense (800 pages in Folio) account. It contains also few more plates from other sources than Allom, and all his plates from new lithographs. An extensive original work for Constantinople very richly illustrated.
