He described two Royal travels in Greece. While his other books were academic, this one is a detailed chronicle travel account of the Kings official tours. The first is a travel to continental northern provinces of the new state in 1834 and the second a Royal travel of Othon and Amalia in 1841,first in Argolida and Thessaloniki and after in Evia and northern Sporades. Very detailed early descriptions of several places in Greece, including small villages.Ross accurately pictured the life of the local population and the sceneries of the places. The contrast between the King s European entourage and the local chieftains and peasants was a cultural clash for him. Very rare
