Hristo Tanev was a prominent Bulgarian revolutionary, public figure and a key participant in the early Macedonian revolutionary organization. Tanev was active in the decades of 1860 and 1870 in the very birth of Bulgarian nationalism,he was a primary leader of the April 1875 Bulgarian uprising and perished then. His extensive personal notes were published much later and shed light in the concrete situation in Macedonia, Thrace and Bulgaria of the 1850s-1860s. Very important primary source for the very early phase of Macedonia struggle and of the early phase of separation between pro Bulgarian and pro Greek populations.
