[IN CYRILLIC] N STANEV: WAR FOR THE LIBERATION OF MACEDONIA. HISTORICAL, ECONOMIC AND CRITICAL PERSPECTIVE. SOFIA 1914 First edition, in 8vo, contemporary paper covers slightly dusted, complete 175p. and several illustrations, mostly photographs, clean and bright, overall in very good condition. Nikola Stanev (1862-1949) was a prominent Bulgarian historian and educator, the work was written in the aftermath of the crushing Bulgarian defeat in the second Balkan war and after the first split of Macedonia. Stanev argued that Bulgaria fought for liberation,not conquest. Very detailed presentation of the areas of Serres, Drama and Kavala as well Bardar Marcedonia wchich ere lost to Greece and Serbia with extensive ethnographical data. He underlined the Bulgarian identity of the Macedonian population against Greek and Serbian claims. These passionate publications fuelled Bulgarian nationalism and had direct impact in the entrance of Bulgaria in WW1 the following year.
