Jauna was a Savoyard scholar. At that time the house of Savoy had claims on the titles of the kings of Cyprus,Jerusalem and Armenia.Jauna compiled one of the very first comprehensive accounts of the history of Cyprus ever printed, utilized many original documents and earlier medieval chronicles, including the precious account of Leontios Machairas, that were difficult to access at the time. Jauna is generally very reliable and the chapters on Cyprus provide a detailed description for the history of the island. He focused also on several concrete areas of Cyprus up to his time.
