Van Kampen travelled extensively in Greece and his lengthy original account on the country, was published just after the independence, it is a comprehensive scientific presentation of the country, from the ancient times to the present. It is lengthy, with thousands of pages, covering its history. Volumes 6 and 7 cover the modern history of Greece including all the events of the Revolution. The map titled:Kaart van Nieuw Griekenland is the first ever published Dutch map of the modern Greek State. A rare scientific account.
