The very rare first edition.Spencer traveled widely in Levant, this is his first publication that was very well received and the small print run exhausted immediately, two more editions followed in just two years. This edition alerted for the first time the British public about the potential danger from the Russians with their penetration around the Black sea and their target on Constantinople. A very detailed travel account for the Pontic areas.Spencer was impressed by the Greek presence all around Black sea and the commercial control by them of the trade of the area.
