A very detailed travel account through the interior of Asia Minor from Constantinople to Smyrna and Ephesus through Bithynia, Phrygia and Lidia. Moustier, a French diplomat, travelled in mid 1860s when all these areas were still unexplored. The illustrations includes several fine sketches of the landscapes and of the local Turkish and Greek populations. He was impressed from the important number of Greeks all around those areas and describes the state of ruins of many ancient and Byzantine monuments before the very first excavations on those places, some of his accounts have been published in French magazines, but only this Italian edition is the first one published with all the narrative of travel. The second part is a detailed account on Levantine dresses and the life of woman in the Levant. Rare accounts
