NAPOLI 1874 First and only edition, large 8vo, contemporary publishers paper covers, complete 79p., introduction with dedication of the author to Errico Schliemann in Athens,79p., text clean and bright, overall in almost fine condition. Lauria was an Italian scholar and prolific traveler in the Levant in the early 1870s,who published this scientific study for Bithynia and Lydia, two ancient Greek areas in Asia Minor,who was among the first to explore Lauria. His style was not a simple travelogue,he combined geographical features, classical historical data for the visited areas as well his contemporary observations. He dedicate his study to Schliemann who became world famous with the discovery of Troy in early 1870s. A very rare account for the Levant published in Napoli, his native town.
