Obviously the concrete copy of the author during his life,with all relevant critics to his book on it, transferred to his grand son, a unique provenance. Heuzey was a French scholar and explorer of the northern part of Greece since the late 1850s to the early 1870s. This account is the result of a French state reconnaissance mission to Thessaly, Macedonia and Epirus executed in 1861 ordered by Napoleon III who wanted to know the concrete military movements of Jules Cesar on these areas. The narrative follows the concrete paths of Cesar to the terrain, through a geographically difficult land and describes how military strategy followed the geographical landscape. The mission results and specially the resulting geographical maps had been characterized by the French state secret and had been unclassified for publication only more than 25 years later and after the incorporation of Thessaly and part of Epirus in Greece.
