It is a valuable source of information for the exact appearance of many monuments in Greece (including many monuments of Athens) and the Levant during early 18th century. One whole chapter is devoted to Cyprus. The impressive size of the beautiful copper engravings make this fine travel account one of the most illustrated for the Levant ever produced and includes fine views and maps. The Dutch edition contain more plates (205) than the 178 of the English.First all plates have been reengraved by Dutch artists with Dutch captions on them and twenty seven more plates have been added from other Dutch artists that have visited Greece and the Levant that time. The publication of this massive work took 10 years to be accomplished. A monumental publication, very richly illustrated. Atabey 965, Blackmer 1323 (English edition). Dutch edition is scarce
