JEAN BAPTISTE TOLLOT: Nouveau Voyage fait au Levant es annees 1731 et 1732, concernat les descriptions d Alger, Barbarie, Egypte, Terre Sainte, Constantinople etc. Paris Cailleau 1742 First edition, in 8vo 17 x 11 cm, contemporary full leather with minor wear, spine richly gilt, edges red, text clean and bright, complete with half-title, title [6], 354 p. [3], overall in very good condition. Tollot, an apothecary, traveled in the Levant with the astronomer De La Condamine. He provides a lengthy description of Cyprus (more than 50 pages in this book refer to Cyprus), Rhodes, several places in the Aegean, and the city of Smirni, which they visited before their arrival in Constantinople.
