First edition of a rare historical and geographical presentation of Greece in Swedish at the very beginning of the Greek Revolution. In 12mo 14.5 x 10 cm, contemporary leather over boards. Text clean and bright. Complete: [16], 413 p. [1], and the six plates as called for. Manuscript ownership inscription of
William St Clair (leading Hellenistic historian) on the front pastedown, with his notes and identification of plates. Overall in very good plus condition and with
fine provenance.
A very detailed description of the country, its cities, population, recent history and trade. The six lithographs, engraved in Stockholm, present fine views of Greek landscapes and monuments and are all present.
The work is strongly Philhellenic and was pivotal for the development of Philhellenism in Sweden.
