LUCIEN TROTIGNON: De Jerusalem a Constantinople, journal d un voyage. Paris 1892 First edition. In 8vo (18x12 cm). Contemporary cloth over marbled boards, preserving the original publisher’s paper covers. Text clean and bright, with some light scattered foxing in a few pages. Complete: 251 p. Overall in very good condition. Trotignon visited the Eastern Mediterranean in 1891. After a tour of the Holy Land, he travelled through Syria and from the Levantine coast continued to Cyprus (12 May), Rhodes, and then Smyrna. He explored Ephesos before arriving in Constantinople, where he remained for a significant period, devoting over 50 pages to describing the Ottoman capital. His account, based on a daily travel calendar, allows readers to follow his journey step by step. A scarce and valuable record of late 19th-century Levantine travel.
