Europeans are appalled by the atrocities committed by the Turks on Chios. The island has now been decimated, and the Turks have demonstrated their intense hatred for the revolutionaries through these massacres. Following the slaughter on Chios, the Kapudan Pasha is awaiting naval reinforcements from the Egyptians.Many vessels of the Ottoman fleet are currently stationed at Kos, while 60 ships of the Greek fleet have passed by Mytilene. In mainland Greece, fierce clashes continue. Khurshid Pasha has amassed large land forces, consisting primarily of Albanians.
