Gazette De France 15th of January 1824 The frigate Médée and a portion of the French fleet are stationed in Smyrna. The inhabitants of Kasos, who had seized a French vessel, refused to pay compensation. Consequently, the corvette Salamandre, acting under the orders of De Rigny, seized a Kasiot warship. The vessel would only be released once the Kasiots delivered the indemnity to Syros. The Greek government was informed of the Kasiots' act of piracy and ordered them to comply immediately.
