Little is known about Randolph, he was engaged in the Levant trade, his text is written from the point of view of a merchant rather than an antiquarian and he describes current conditions in Greece, prompted by his obvious economic interests. The Venetian invasion of the region had recently taken place, and this may have given Randolph the opportunity to write these works. Both works are richly illustrated. First work contain a large copper engraved map of Morea 53x44cm (Zacharakis 2882) and views of Mistra and Korinthos. Second work contain a large copper engraved map of Greece 57x48cm (Zacharakis 2879,with inset view of Constantinople), large view of Seraglio in Constantinople and views of Chalkida, Tenedos and of one Greek priest.
