CHARLES MAC FARLANE:CONSTANTINOPLE IN 1828, A RESIDENCE OF SIXTEEN MONTHS IN THE TURKISH CAPITAL AND PROVINCES WITH AN ACCOUNT OF THE PRESENT STATE OF THE NAVAL AND MILITARY POWER AND OF THE RESSOURCES OF THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE. LONDON 1829 Second revised edition same year with the first, in 8vo, complete in two volumes, 517p., 401p., two fine colored aquatints as frontis plus two more folded plates, including fine view of Constantinople, contemporary full leather, down edges of spines with few wear, upper cover of volume one detached, text clean and bright, overall in very good condition. Macfarlane resided 16 months in Constantinople just after the naval battle in Navarino and during the end of Greek Revolution. It contain long descriptions of several places in Asia Minor, Smyrne and Constantinople with a detailed presentation of the resources of Ottoman Empire.
