IMPERIAL FOLIO, an impressive publication, contemporary leather over boards, complete: pictorial lithographed title, leaf of dedication, leaf of introduction and 63 leaves of text, in manuscript style but all lithographed, sixty two (62) tinted lithographed plates, several on Indian paper, depicting fine views of the Russian campaign of 1828/1829 in the Levant, all plates clear and bright, overall in almost fine condition, a very nice copy. ONLY 100 COPIES PRINTED. A very expensive luxury publication. De Bearn, a French officer, followed the Russian army in his campaign in the Balkans during the war of 1828-29. Only this Russian advance to Constantinople obliged the Ottomans to accept Greek Independence. All plates are after original drawings and depict fine landscapes in the Balkans.
