First edition, in 8vo, contemporary vellum soiled, title in red and black, text clean and bright with very few wear, some marginal water stain in two three pages, one page with some marginal loss of paper, complete 94p. and 43 engraved plates, some folding, overall in very good condition. The work is a description of Greece and the adjacent islands inspired by the recent Venetian conquests in the area. The descriptions of the places probably are coming mostly from German mercenaries officers in the Venetian army operated then in Greece and some other contemporary anonymous sources. They are very accurate, obviously from eyewitnesses, and full with useful details. The work is very richly illustrated with many maps published for the first time (Morea, Kefalonia, Greece, Limnos, Mitilini, Milos, straits of Rio) and many views of Greek cities (Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Navarino, Kithira, Monemvasia, Korinthos, Athens, Halkida, Nafpaktos, Patras, Argos, Volos, Smyrne, Rhodes and several other) as well views of landscapes, animals, people etc., all plates are genuine and their sources have not yet identified.
